top 10 tools i cant live without

When we boot up our workstations, we automatically open a good number of applications to get us through the day and here's a list of the top 10 software/ applications that I can't live without and why: (warning, the list below mixes productivity with pleasure :o) hehe!)

  1. Portable Firefox - my favorite web browser! I currently use firefox with the Tab Mix plus and the PDF download extension.
  2. Google docs - Web based writer I use for my blog posts and other docs that I need to work on no matter where I find myself. I particularly find its integration with blogger very useful - which i wrote up in an earlier post, what it means to "collaborate" , making posting to blogger easier.
  3. Google reader - my RSS feed reader of choice. This is where I receive my technology news, my friends' blog updates, personal finance advice, etc. Its a simple but powerful feed reader with keyboard short cuts!
  4. Yahoo mail - currently my primary email. I haven't totally migrated to Gmail, but I don't see this happening anytime soon - reads yahoo mail has unlimited storage!
  5. BitComet - my torrent client of choice :) it has an easy and clean interface that makes it hard not to use.
  6. Blogger - my blogging platform of choice :) simple and effective (and has more free storage space than wordpress hehehe!)
  7. Portable The GIMP - this photoshop rival dwells in my thumb drive enabling me to do "photoshoping" on the fly
  8. My life Organized - a simple task list that can handle sub tasks. You can even place attach text on a specific task. Pretty cool!
  9. Picasa - Photo organization at its best, plus a quick solution for quick fixes. I like using picasa for its crop tool because you can easily resize photo's for printing in 4R. I also found its duplicate finder a super useful and space saving tool! Scouring through the web I found that picnik is a good web based alternative for those who like picasa just for a quick fix.
  10. MS office - for office related work, although I might try to migrate to open office if and when i get the chance.

I got this blog post idea from cogniview.com's article on top 10 tools I can't live without
