I feel disconnected from the world around me..
In my old job I could read my RSS feeds when I need to take a breather from work. In my old job I can converse with my friends using web mail or even IMs at times. In my old job I could blog about whatever pops into my head at that moment. In my old job I could search and research about things that interest me or at times about things that are related to my job.
In my new job, my access to the internet is very limited. No web mail, no IMs, no RSS feed reader, no blogs to read.. I understand that web mail and IMs drop productivity, but to deny my account access to sites relevant to my new job? In the past weeks, I've been reading Business World online to add to my knowledge on the finance sector, and just last week as I visited the site again, voila! access denied!!
May porn ata sa Business world online, kaya na-block nila.. hehe!
But seriously, this limit on my internet access has disconnected me from my usual mediums of communication and information..
Does internet really play a big role in communication? and has the concept of communication evolved to 'oral, written, and electronic'?
What behavioral effects have internet usage/ reliance brought about? or am I just "addicted" to the internet? am I the only one? hehe!
